Eleanor T. (Tyler) Stead, 83 of Vernon, CT, died Thursday, July 14, 2016 at her home with her family by her side.
She was born in Manchester, CT on November 13, 1932, daughter of Carl and Anna (Tedford) Tyler. She was a lifelong resident of Vernon, attending local schools, and was an eighty three year member of the Vernon United Methodist Church. She was former employee of the Pillowtex Company and previously in food service. She was an avid Bingo player, and enjoyed reading and puzzles.
Eleanor is survived by four daughters and a son, Beverly Sitek and her husband Francis of Myrtle Beach, SC, Laurie Tucker and her husband Peter of Union, CT, Shirley Stead and her fianc Ken Ruquist of Bristol, CT, Sandy Steele and her husband Jason of Florida, and Kenneth Stead of East Hartford, CT; seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Tyler Jr. of Vernon, William Tyler and his wife Maureen of Vernon, and many nieces and nephews. Eleanor was predeceased by her sisters Joyce Washburn and Shirley Pease, her brothers Richard Tyler and David Tyler, and her former husband Kenneth Stead.
Her family would like to thank the staff of Vitas Hospice, especially Kristy, Lovelace, and Pastor Ken, for all the care and kindness they gave to Eleanor and her family.
A memorial service will be held at the Vernon United Methodist Church, 401 Hartford Turnpike (Rte. 30) in Vernon on Wednesday, July 20, at 11:00 AM. Private burial will be in the Buckland Cemetery in Manchester. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vernon United Methodist Church, 401 Hartford Tpke., P.O.
