Eleanor H. Preuss
July 19, 1924 — January 3, 2015
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eleanor (Hutchinson) Preuss, 90, beloved wife of 66 years to Norman J. Preuss on January 3, 2015 at Manchester Memorial Hospital.
She was born in West Hoboken, NJ on July 19, 1924, daughter of the late Keeney and Lillian (Deer) Hutchinson, moving to Bolton in 1933. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Andrew in 1943. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1942, from which she went to work for Southern New England Telephone Company until 1952. She also worked as Vice-President for the family business, served as Bolton Assistant Town Clerk for 16 years, clerk for the Andover Probate Court, as well as a volunteer for many Bolton organizations, including the Bolton Fire Department Women's Auxiliary . She was a communicant of St. Maurice Church, and was a charter member of the St. Maurice Women's Group.
In addition to her husband, she leaves 3 sons, Jim and his wife Sharon of Bolton, Carl and his wife Jean of Bolton, and Tom and his wife Denise of Willington. She also leaves a former daughter-in-law, Deane Preuss of Manchester. She also leaves her life's treasures, her 5 grandchildren: James and his wife Melisa, Jason and his fiance Kathryn Connors, Justin, Peter, and Elizabeth Coelho and her husband Justin. She also leaves her cherished great grandchildren Luke, Blake, Gia, Gavin and Emery Preuss, and the newest addition Andrew Coelho.
She loved spending weekends at Columbia Lake, with her family and friends. We will miss her dearly.
Friends may gather with the family during calling hours on Friday, January 9, from 4-8 p.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 10, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Maurice Church, 32 Hebron Road, Bolton CT. Friends are requested to go directly to the church for this service. Burial will follow in Bolton Center Cemetery.
