Eleanor H. ''Bunnie'' Crawford

February 5, 1923 — March 7, 2016

Eleanor (Homans) 'Bunnie' Crawford, 93, longtime resident of Manchester, widow of
William R. Crawford, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016 at a local convalescent home.
Bunnie was born in Springfield, MA on February 5, 1923, daughter of William R. & Lillian (Thayer) Homans and was raised in Springfield, MA, graduating from Springfield High.
She married her husband of 59 years in 1942 and travelled with him while stateside in the Air Force. They settled and raised a family in Manchester after the war.
She was a long time member of the Trinity Covenant Church in Manchester. She was a waitress for over 25 years at the Parkade Shady Glen and was well liked by her customers who enjoyed her laugh and many jokes. She was a 'people person' who especially enjoyed her many friends, including staff, at Manchester Manor. It was there that she discovered her love of playing bingo.
Bunnie is survived by her 2 daughters, Doreen Melesko of Manchester, Joyce Fontaine-Saavedra & Ben of Wayne, NJ and a son, Randall Crawford of Ellington and a wonderful brother, E. O. 'Sked' Homans of East Hartford. Seven grandchildren, Paul Fontaine of Rockland, MA, John & Becky Melesko of White Salmon, WA, James Melesko of Manchester, Jason & Emily Fontaine of Wayne, NJ, David & Kelly Melesko of Manchester, Mia & Joseph Swain of Las Vegas, NV and Randy & Michelle Crawford of Ellington. Nine great grandchildren, Austin Melesko, Zachary Fontaine, Mairyn Melesko, Liam Melesko, Ryan Fontaine, Aiden Melesko, Lily Fontaine and newest additions, Peyton Crawford and Joseph Swain.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 19th at 3:00 PM at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. A visiting time with family and friends will be from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. Burial will be private in the East Cemetery in Manchester.
We would like to thank the many wonderful caregivers at Manchester Manor as well as the Masonicare Hospice.
