Eleanor H. Brook

October 18, 1928 — August 30, 2025

Manchester

Eleanor (Hadden) Brook, 96, beloved wife of George N. Brook Sr., passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, in Manchester, Connecticut, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 18, 1928, to Thomas and Rebecca (Martin) Hadden. A lifelong resident of Manchester and Coventry, Eleanor was employed by Laurel Living Center, retiring in 1993. She was an active member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, participating with her sisters in the Altar Guild and in countless church functions. Eleanor was an avid reader who enjoyed arts and crafts, needlework, and classic movies, especially anything starring Clark Gable. She had a special fondness for all animals, wild and domestic, and always took great joy in caring for them. Eleanor rarely missed a cooking show on television and loved to collect and test out new recipes to share with her loved ones. She will be most remembered not only for her unfailing devotion to her family, but also for her thoughtful and generous nature.

Eleanor is survived by her two children, Rebecca Moe and George Brook Jr.; her grandchildren, Holly Opichka, Alaina Bradley, Shawn Moe, Megan Curtis, and Tara Brook; her great-grandchildren, Fenton Bradley Jr., Kristopher Curtis Jr., and Skylar Curtis; along with several nieces, nephews, and their families. She is predeceased by her husband, George Sr., and her sisters, Rita Davidson and Edna Harris.
