Eileen P. Welles

November 29, 1936 — August 8, 2017

Eileen (Prior) Welles, 80, of Manchester and formerly of East Hartford, loving wife of the late Edward F. Welles, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at an area convalescent home.

Eileen was born in Hartford, CT November 29, 1936, daughter of Francis and Margaret (O'Brien) Prior. She was raised in Hartford and resided in East Hartford for forty years. She and her husband retired to Florida in 1997 and returned to Manchester in 2004. Eileen was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, ceramics, and trips to the casino. Above all else she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter and four sons, Susan Curtis of Ellington, Thomas Welles and his wife Patricia of East Hartford, Edward Welles of Vernon, Neil Welles and his wife Elizabeth of Newington, and Dennis Welles and his wife Kimberly of Coventry; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Hill, Steven Curtis, Bryan, Abigail, Timothy, Karlene, and Tristan Welles; her great-grandson Noah Welles; her sister-in-law, Maureen Prior, and her cousin Judy Bureau. Eileen was predeceased by her siblings, Patricia Middleton, Richard Prior, and Francis Prior.

Her family would like to thank the staff of Woodlake at Tolland for their wonderful care.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held Saturday, August 12, at 10:30 AM at St. Bridget Church, 70 Main Street, Manchester with burial to follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. A visiting time for family and friends is Saturday from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester.
