Edward E. Kaminsky, 88, of Manchester and Vero Beach, FL beloved husband of Joan M. LaHouse Gates Kaminsky, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 at home with his family at his side. Edward was born in Hartford, May 29, 1929, son of the late E. Edward and Helena (Ryan) Kaminsky and had resided in Manchester since 1950. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked for the Teamsters Local 559, for 45 years retiring as a Business Agent in 1993. He was a charter member and communicant of St. Bartholomew Church since its inception. In addition to spending time with his family and friends in CT and FL, he was also an avid fan of the NY Yankees and UCONN Women's basketball. Edward is survived by his loving family, his wife of 35 years, Joan, four sons, Gerald Kaminsky, Alan Kaminsky and his son, Brian; Edward Kaminsky, his wife Helen and their daughter, Victoria; and Robert Kaminsky; Edward's children and grandchildren through his marriage to Joan, son Stephen Gates and his children, Rachel and Samantha; daughter Karen Silkowski and her children, Stephanie and Alyson and Alyson's husband, Michael; daughter Susan Gates-Krull and her daughters, Jessica and Katie and Jessica's children Jacob and Matson; son Gary Gates and his wife, Danyele and their children, Garrison and Juliette; daughter Leslie Reed and her husband, Jonathan; and youngest daughter Amy Gates. He is also survived by his sister, Elaine Hebert and her children, David, Lynn and Lisa. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a son, Ronald J. Kaminsky and a grandson, Nickolas Kaminsky. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 10am at St. Bartholomew Church 736 East Middle Turnpike Manchester, CT 06040. Burial will follow with military honors at St. James Cemetery in Manchester. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bartholomew Church.
