Edward John Gregory Jr., fondly known as Ed by his loved ones, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on June 22, 1944, in Hartford, Connecticut, Ed grew up to be a man of integrity, warmth, and an ever-present sense of humor that endeared him to all who knew him. His final days were spent surrounded by family in Manchester, Connecticut, where he gently succumbed to natural causes.
Ed was a devoted family man, a loving husband to his wife Ellen (LeDuc) Gregory, and a guiding light to his children Edward Gregory III, Stephen (Susan) Gregory, and his step-children Nicholas (Kim) Romano, Joey-Leigh Norton, Jessica (Joe) Ruffini, and Anthony Romano. He was a cherished brother to Andrea Oat, Arlene King, and Gregg W. Bear (Kim). The legacy of his kind spirit, passion for life, and zest for knowledge lives on through his ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, alongside several nieces and nephews who fondly remember their times with Uncle Ed.
Before retiring, Ed made a significant impact in his professional life, where his work ethic and dedication to excellence were evident to his colleagues and the community he served. His commitment to his career was only surpassed by his devotion to his family, who were the cornerstone of his life. His sage advice, heartfelt encouragement, and the stories he told will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Ed's passion for dancing, along with his sense of adventure and love for the outdoors often saw him embark on family camping trips and quiet fishing excursions, creating memories that would last a lifetime. His laughter was infectious, his smile could light up a room, and his presence was a comfort to those around him.
Ed would often be found in his garage working on his beloved hot rods. He had a knack for fixing things, and would lend a hand to family and friends.
As we say farewell to Ed, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, commitment, and joy. His was a journey of purpose, a tale of a life that touched so many in the most positive of ways. Though he may have left this earthly realm, the imprint Ed left on the hearts of his family, friends, and community will never fade.
We take solace in the fact that Ed now rejoins his beloved parents, E. John Gregory Sr. and Margaret Gregory, who preceded him in death. Their reunion is a comforting thought to all who loved him and an affirmation of the cycle of life and love that he so fervently believed in.
A private service will be held to honor the wonderful life of Edward John Gregory Jr., where his family will gather to remember the man who was their rock and their guiding star. As we reflect on his life, we are reminded of the joy he brought into our world and the lessons he imparted, which will continue to inspire and guide us for generations to come.
