Edith (Salter) Senna, 85, of Manchester beloved wife of the late Joseph W. Senna died peacefully on Saturday, February 4, 2017. She was born on October 18, 1931 in Arapahoe, NC, daughter of the late Matthew Salter and Fannie (Clark) Frew. Edith attended schools in North Carolina and was Salutatorian of Stonewall High School in Stonewall, NC. Prior to starting her family she was employed by Bell Systems and AT&T for several years. In her later years Edith was employed by Bess Eaton Donuts and the Town of Manchester as a Crossing Guard for over 15 years. Edith attended Church of the Assumption in Manchester. She is survived by her three children; Barbara A. Oliveira of Manchester, Ronald J. Senna and his wife Lorelei of Greenville, NC and Mary A. Senna of Manchester, her two loving grandchildren; Eleanor Lukasiewicz and her husband John and their daughter Ruth Elizabeth Lukasiewicz of Chicago, IL, and Wesley R. Senna of Greenville, NC. Edith also leaves her three nieces; Sheila Nelson, Susan Miller and Karen Morris and her husband Stephen and her two half brothers, Derril Salter and Thomas Salter. In addition to her husband and parents, Edith was predeceased by her brother, Matthew E. Salter. Calling hours will be held at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 10-11 am with a prayer service at 11 am at the funeral home.
