Earl F. Lewie Jr

Earl F. Lewie Jr., 76, of Manchester and formerly of Vernon, beloved husband of Priscilla A. (Barabe) Lewie and the late Jane (Piela) Lewie, passed away peacefully, Thursday November 19, 2015 at his home with his family at his side. Earl was born June 29, 1939 in Manchester, son of the late Earl F. Lewie Sr. and Mary (Law) Lewie, he attended local schools and was a 1957 Graduate of Manchester High School. He moved to Vernon where he resided for more than 50 years before moving back to Manchester in 2013 to live with his daughter and her family. Earl was a truck driver, traveling cross country as owner/operator for many years before working locally and becoming the proud recipient of numerous "Ryder Awards" over his almost 50 year career. He was an avid sports enthusiast, he enjoyed camping and going to Mohegan Sun, but most of all he loved to spend time with his family. In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Janine & David Wetherell of Manchester, and was the very proud grandfather of Joseph M. Wetherell , also of Manchester. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Raymond Lewie and his wife Nancy of East Hartford, Sharon Ashworth of East Hartford, Stuart Lewie and his wife Amy of Florida, and Evelyn Nielsen of Enfield. In addition to his siblings he leaves his sisters and brothers in law, Carol Collins and her husband Ronald of Windsor, Lois Piela and Edmond Piela of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. Other survivors include his special neighbors to which he was also known as "Uncle Earl", Mark Gagne and Lynn Gagne both of Vernon. He was predeceased by two sons, John E. Lewie and Michael J. Lewie, and his brother Richard "Dickie" Lewie. At Earl's request, funeral services will be private with burial in the East Cemetery in Manchester.
