Dorothy June Cottle

Dorothy June (Talbot) Cottle, 81 of Manchester, formerly of South Windsor, loving wife for sixty-two years of Roger B. Cottle, died Friday, January 1, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford after an extended illness.
She was born in New York City, NY on May 15, 1934, daughter of Arthur E. and Dorothy Lillian (Dressel) Talbot. She graduated from the Bronx High School of Science and came to Connecticut in 1961. She was a resident of South Windsor from 1963 to September of 2015 when she moved to Manchester.
Mrs. Cottle was member of the South Winsor Republican Town Committee for many years. She was named the South Windsor Citizen of the Year in 1973 and was a charter member of the Friends In Service Here (FISH) in South Windsor. Mrs. Cottle was a member of the Second Congregational Church of Manchester for twenty five years, has been a member of the Union Congregational Church in Rockville for the past seven years. During her time at Union Church, she worked with the church's Child Evangelism Fellowship, a ministry to elementary school children in the church's neighborhood.
Prior to retiring in 2007, Mrs. Cottle was employed by Greater Hartford Legal Aid for twenty three years, and continued to volunteer at G.H.L.A. for seven years after her retirement.
Besides her husband Mrs. Cottle is survived by three sons, Paul Cottle and his wife Tracey of Tallahassee, FL, Stephen Cottle and his wife Laura of Storrs, and Jonathan Cottle of North Haven; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Carol DeFazio.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 16, at 11:00 AM at the Union Congregational Church, 3 Elm Street, Rockville. Burial will be private in the Wapping Cemetery in South Windsor. There are no calling hours.
