Doris Ann Windsor

Doris Ann Windsor {Needham), 81, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt, of Manchester, CT, entered final rest on May 26, 2021, at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease and Pancreatic Cancer. Doris Ann was born October 4, 1939, in Lewisville, NC, as the oldest of three children, to the late Samuel B. and Doris M. Needham (Johnson). She lived in NC, before her father, who worked for Otis Elevator, was transferred to Macon, GA; Lakeland, FL and Clearwater, FL. She attended business school in Lakeland at Florida Southern College. She met the love of her life, the late Eugene W. Windsor, at a local dance in Clearwater, FL, working as a secretary at a real estate office. They shared 48 years of marriage before his passing. She served as a Girl Scout cookie mom, her camp name was Daisy. Her niece and nephews knew her as Aunt Dodie. Doris Ann also worked as a Librarian Assistant as Seminole Elementary School in FL, at a local bookstore and as a hostess at McDonald's in Seminole. Later, Doris Ann served as a teacher of adult literacy helping victims of accidents and people needing to learn to read, she received an award for her advocacy. Doris Ann was an avid reader of Jeanette Oakes and Debbie Macomber books. She maintained a long-distance book club with her dearest cousin, Wanda Needham of Pfafftown, NC and her lifelong best friend, Mary Lenick of St. Petersburg, FL. Doris Ann also enjoyed history novels, cross word and word search puzzles, knitting & crocheting. She was a member of Manchester Senior Center, where she made several friends. She was also a member of South United Methodist Church. Doris Ann is predeceased by her parents, her husband and her sister, B. Susan Moore of Pfafftown, NC. She is survived by her brother, Michael S. Needham, Pfafftown, NC; her daughter, Kimberly and her husband, Gary Johnson of Manchester, CT; son Kef Lee and his wife Mary of Ypsilanti, Ml and their children, Dylan, Donaven and Lilly; Heidi Johnson, of Manchester, CT; and several cousins, Ann Needham of Statesville, NC; Ellen Needham of Morganton, NC; Harland Needham of Durham, NC; Marti Schiflett of Oveida, FL & others, including several nieces & nephews. A memorial service will be held at South United Methodist Church, 1226 Main Street, Manchester, Thursday, June 3, 2021, calling hours are 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a service to follow at 4:00pm. Donations in her memory can be made to The Salvation Army, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Parkinson's Foundation. Inurnment will take place at Doub's Cemetery, Seward Road, Pfafftown, NC in October 2021.
