Doris Turner

Doris N. Turner was 87 years old when she died on October 27, 2022. Aunt Doris, as she was known to everyone, was born on May 27, 1935 in Monson, Maine to John and Jessie (Sabonis) Nelson. She lived in Monson and West Peru, Maine in her early years and East Hartford and Manchester, CT for the majority of her life. She graduated from Monson Academy in Monson, ME in 1953; and worked for 40 years at Capital City Adjustment Bureau as a Data Entry Payment Specialist. She loved all sports but was a very big fan of the Boston Red Sox and UCONN Womens Basketball. She was an avid reader of Amish books and Danielle Steele novels and read multiple books each month. She also loved to knit baby sweaters and hats for her great nieces and nephews. She is survived by her nieces and a nephew: Carol Ebersold of Manchester, CT, Georgeanne & Steve DiCenso of Glastonbury, CT, Donna Mead & Jerry Kenny of Laguna Beach, CA, Kristine Cosker & Sam Logsdon of Titusville, PA, Debbie & Foster Ward of Monson, ME, and David & Laurie Nelson of West Palm Beach, FL. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Shirley Turner of West Peru, ME and several nieces and nephews that reside in Maine. In addition, Aunt Doris is survived by two great nieces, Sara DiCenso and Colleen Malitsky and her husband James; four great nephews, Peter DiCenso and his fiance, Lionelha Macomber, Michael Mead, Daniel Cosker, Andrew Cosker and his wife, Samantha. Doris was predeceased by her son, Thomas Ellery Turner and her brothers George, Frank, Edwin, and Robert Nelson and her sister, Glenys Ebersold. She was also predeceased by her sister-in-laws Mary Nelson, June Nelson, Nina Nelson; brother-in-law Edward Ebersold, and nephews David and Douglas Nelson. A funeral service will be held at 10:30AM on Friday November 4th 2022, the family will recieve friends thirty minutes prior. A graveside service will follow at Hillside Cemetery 224 Roberts St. East Hartford, CT. Memorial contributions can be made to: Monson Academy Alumni Association (MAAA), P.O.
