Donald Stewart Cordner, 84, of Manchester, CT beloved husband of Mary (Dixie) Armstrong Cordner passed away unexpectedly November 18, 2017. He was born on December 13, 1932 in Manchester. Donald was a proud Veteran having served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a Lather by trade and owned and operated Montano Brothers Construction and A.D.& E. Corporation.
He was predeceased by his mother Alice Thrasher Lowell, father Frank Cordner, and granddaughter Allison Marie Tabshey. In addition to his wife of 65 years, Donald is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law Deborah and Thomas Hoops, Dale and Scott Hubbard, grandchildren Andrew Hoops, Amanda Cardini and Emily Stringer, great-grandchildren Arianna Hoops and Alaina Cardini, along with his sister and brother-in-law Jean and Richard Hassett.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester, CT. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior at 9:30 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the University of Connecticut Children's Cancer Fund, Farmington Medical Center, 263 Farmington Avenue, Farmington, CT 06032 in memory of his granddaughter, Allison Marie Tabshey.
