Donald L. Delphia, 92 of Vernon, husband of the late Margaret "Peg" Delphia passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014. Donald was born in Pittsfield, MA on March 8, 1922 son of the late Moses and Bernice Delphia. He proudly served his country during World War II in the U. S. Army Air Corps. He lived in Bloomfield, before moving to Vernon in 1975 and was a self employed wallpaper and painter contractor, for more than 40 years, retiring in 1997. He was a master gardener of flowers, an avid bowler, fisherman and outdoorsman. Donald is survived by two daughters, Cheryl A. Pizzoferrato and her husband, Peter J. Pizzoferrato of South Windsor, Francine Delphia of Addison, VT, two sons, Jeffrey F. Trotter and his wife, Susan of Ellington, John C. Trotter of Vernon, four grandchildren, Peter J. Pizzoferrato and Shelley of Glastonbury, Jeremy J. Trotter, Taylor J. Trotter and Morgan A. Trotter all of Ellington, his girlfriend, Maryann Chapman of Myerstown, PA, several nieces and nephews and close friends, Rod Frechette of New Mexico and Norman Stevenson of Manchester. He was also predeceased by nine brothers and sisters. The family would like to take this time to thank the wonderful staff, nurses and aides with the care and compassion given to Donald. We would also like to thank Don's caregiver Marilyn and Art Hines, Robert Paquette for their help with Don's care and his neighbor Michael Arnone. Also, the Vernon Post Office for their support. Funeral services will be Wednesday November 5, 2014 at 1 pm at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester, with a calling hour prior to the service from 12pm -1pm at the funeral home.
