Donald S. Cowell Sr.

Donald Scott Cowell Sr., "Dyno Don", age 74 of Manchester, beloved husband of 46 years of Nancy (Harvey) Cowell, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on Sunday, December 18, 2022. He was born on March 17, 1948, the son of the late Ralph Ellis and Olga (Weber) Cowell. Don was proud to be a life-long resident of Manchester and was a graduate of Manchester High School (Class of 1966) and Manchester Community College. For many years he had been employed by major industrial chemical companies including BASF Wyandotte, Diversey Chemicals, and Lever Brothers. He was the owner of Dyno Dons Property Maintenance Services for several years until retiring in 2011. Don loved muscle cars, motorcycles, snowmobiling, boating, fishing, and spending winters in Florida and summers on Pleasant Lake and Thompson Lake in Maine with family and friends. He was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa and loyal friend. Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Donald "Donny" Scott Cowell, Jr. and his wife Eileen of Vernon; two grandchildren, Scott Andrew Cowell and Jake William Cowell of Vernon; a brother Ralph Harmon Cowell and his wife Nancy of The Villages, FL; two brothers-in-law, William Jerry Harvey, Jr. and his wife Geri of Windsor and Robert Paul Harvey and his wife Anne of Greensburg, PA; his nieces Christina Cowell, Lisa Brennan, and Christina Harvey and nephew Robert Harvey and their families. He was predeceased by his nephew Sean Harvey. Don will be remembered for his sense of humor, his warm, generous nature, and his love of life. His family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of Compassus for their loving care and support. Calling hours will be Thursday, December 29th from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home at 400 Main Street, Manchester, CT. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dons memory to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, P.O. Box 970025, Boston, MA 02297-0025.
