Diana Lee Child

November 10, 1940 — February 1, 2017

Diana Lee (Gagnon) Child passed away on February 1, 2017 after a lengthy illness. Diana was born in Hartford on November 10, 1940 to the late Catherine P. (Warder) and Leo A. Gagnon. She was the beloved wife of Don W. Child for forty years before he predeceased her in 2010.

After high school, Diana worked at the former J.M. Fields store in East Hartford, where she met her future husband, Don. Following her marriage, Diana worked as a state licensed daycare provider in her home. She was much loved by the little ones she cared for.

Throughout her life, Diana faced and overcame many health challenges. Although becoming wheelchair bound in midlife, Diana remained a gentle and kind person, who never found fault with others. During difficult times, she found comfort in her family, friends and pets.

Diana leaves her son Mark J. Child and his wife Melissa of East Hartford, a brother Gary J. Gagnon and his wife Diane of Glastonbury, many cousins and two dear friends, Anne Sullivan and Jean Duperry. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center of East Hartford, where Diana resided for the past two years.

Diana will be laid to rest with her husband at the Silver Lane Cemetery in East Hartford. Donations in Diana's memory may be made to the Protectors of Animals, 144 Main Street, East Hartford CT 06118.
