Dennis L. Roy, 64, of Manchester, CT, passed away on December 29, 2022, with his family and friends by his side. With immense courage and strength, he fought an amazing battle to the very end.
Dennis was born in December 1958, to Richard Roy and Doris (Guilbeault) Kenny. He is predeceased by his stepfather Joseph Kenny. He is survived by his loving wife Jacquie; his mother Doris; brothers Richard Roy and wife Donna, and Robert Roy and wife Mary; his two sons, James Roy and wife Lisa and Robert Roy and wife Jessica; by three grandchildren Juliana, Trenton and Robert Jr; and by his many nieces and nephews.
Dennis had an unquestionable love for his family and friends, and love for all creatures big and small -- he was known to stop traffic for caterpillars and turtles to help them safely cross the road. His many four-legged 'kids' kept him young at heart. He enjoyed life and the gifts of nature. He valued honesty and hard work. He was an uncomplicated man and enjoyed the simpler things in life -- riding his bike, hiking in the woods, antiquing, country drives, listening to music, cheering on his teams the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, and smelling the burning rubber at NASCAR races.
Dennis was good-natured and kind, and his smile and sense of humor had a way of making anyone around him feel instantly comfortable and welcomed. He was an avid freshwater catch-and-release fisherman. He fished every pond and lake in CT with his buddy, Jim, and fished in numerous lakes from Vermont down to Florida. Most importantly he lived helping others without question or judgment. Oh! And he loved to eat!
Dennis' life may have seemed short to some but those who were touched by him know that the quality of his life far exceeded the quantity of time in which he lived. Still, we are all terribly shaken by the loss of him. We will always keep his memories in our hearts!
