Dean H. Gates

Dean H. Gates, 85, of Manchester, died peacefully on Saturday, August 20, 2016 after an extended illness. He was born on May 31, 1931 in Manchester son of the late Herman and Martha (Mc Adam) Gates. Dean was raised in Manchester, attended local schools and was a graduate of Howell Cheney Technical High School. He was employed for over 30 years with the former CBT at the Manchester Parkade retiring as the Branch Manager. Dean was a Friend of Bill W., a member of B.P.O.E #1893 in Manchester and he enjoyed square dancing, bicycling and antique and vintage cars. He is survived daughter Lori J. Gates and Tom Stough of Manchester, his son Dean R. Gates and his wife Tami of Manchester, his four loving grandchildren; Christina Pinkham of Windsor, Matthew Pinkham and his son Merick both of Manchester, Ashlyn Gates and her son Krzysztof both of Manchester and Dean D. Gates of Manchester. In addition to his parents Dean was predeceased by his brother Ronald H. Gates. Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester from 5-7 pm with a service at 6:30 pm. Burial with military honors will be private in East Cemetery, Manchester. Memorial contributions may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous.
