David Ernest Woolley, 39, of Manchester, CT, beloved husband of eighteen years of Mary Catherine (Burns) Woolley and loving father to Laela, Caelyn, Ranae, and Caden, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, July 26, 2018 after a nearly eight year battle with brain cancer.
David was born on May 29, 1979 in Pascagoula, Mississippi, son of Frank Woolley and the late Betty (Malone) Woolley. He was raised in Texas, where he was involved in multiple extracurricular activities, most notably football. While playing college ball at Hardin-Simmons University, he met and married Mary Catherine. He graduated with a B.S. in Mathematics. He was an electrical test technician for various companies, most recently Electric Power Systems, and had his residence in Manchester since 2006. He was a proud member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. He attended Church of the Living God in Manchester, and had a deep and abiding faith and trust in his Savior, even in the midst of the trial of his illness.
Some of his children's favorite memories are of him teaching them high school level math while they were still in elementary school or just talking to them for hours about theology or philosophy. David would go into great detail on random topics to anyone who would listen. They also loved going to play paintball with Daddy. His hobbies were varied (and usually expensive!) He was a car buff, gamer fanatic, audiophile, computer nerd. He loved nothing more than to build a computer from scratch or upgrade a piece of audio equipment, and would talk your ear off for hours about it. He had a sneaky, sarcastic sense of humor, and it amused him no end when people thought he was serious.
In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his father Frank Woolley and his wife Melissa, of Michigan, his sister Rachel Woolley, his brother Christopher Woolley and his wife Sarah, both of Texas, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Joseph and Catherine Burns, of Colorado, brother-in-law Michael Burns, of Washington, and his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 25, at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Living God, 199 Deming Street, Manchester, with calling hours starting at 10:00 AM. Private burial was in the East Cemetery in Manchester.
