David A. Wolfenden

September 21, 1956 — December 9, 2024

David Wolfenden, 68, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on Monday December 9th at Hartford Hospital after a courageous two-year battle with bladder cancer. David was born on September 21, 1956 in Lachine, Quebec, Canada to Madeleine and Charlie Wolfenden. His Canadian pride was unmatched.
After graduating with a degree in Commerce from St. Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, David and Leslie lived in Toronto where Dave began his 35 year career in plastics sales. In 1988 they moved to Manchester where they raised their beautiful family and created their life together.
David cherished the community he and his family built in Manchester. He was a member of the Manchester Little League Board of Directors, a longtime member and former president of the Manchester Lions Club, and an usher at South United Methodist Church. Dave's love for the Manchester community and its people extended to volunteering at the homeless shelter and delivering turkeys and gifts to those in need around the holidays. He was especially excited to finally become an American citizen in July of 2022.
Dave was a loving husband, father, and friend. He never missed a Manchester High School musical production, hockey game, or swim meet. David shared his love for travel with his family on countless road trips to New York City, Boston, Montreal, and everywhere in between. He loved people, and made a point of making friends wherever he went. Relaxing at Horn Pond in Maine with family and friends was his favorite summer tradition, taking in a sunset with a cold beverage in his hand.
David will be remembered with reverence by his family and friends as a true fighter, champion, and survivor who took on the health challenges he faced with grace, and perseverance. He was especially fond of his grandchildren and made time to make them feel special with little games and inside jokes. He was always grateful for moments spent with others, texts from friends near and far, or a quiet afternoon on the back porch with his family.
He was a devoted husband of 39 years to his wife, Leslie. He is survived by his three children Caroline Archibald and her husband Dean, Jeffrey Wolfenden and his wife Caitlin, Christine Wolfenden and her husband Nestor, and two grandchildren William and James Archibald, as well as siblings Bob, Bryan, and Lynn. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law.
Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, December 15th from 1PM till 3PM followed by a service at 3PM at Holmes Funeral Home in Manchester located at 400 Main Street, Manchester CT. Burial will take place on Monday, December 16th at 9am at East Cemetery, located at 220 East Center Street, Manchester CT. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Children's Heart Foundation, would be graciously appreciated in honor of his grandson James.
