David C. Toomey Jr. 85, of Bolton, beloved husband of Mabel (Winter) Toomey and the late Margaret (Higgins) Toomey, died peacefully, Monday March 28, 2016 at his childhood home in Bolton with his family at his side after a long battle with Cancer. Dave was born February 28, 1931 in Manchester, son of the late David C. Toomey Sr. and Olive (Hutchinson) Toomey, he attended local schools in Bolton, was a 1949 Graduate of Manchester High School and was a lifelong resident of Bolton. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during the Korean conflict from 1950 to 1954 in the USAF Military Police. He became a Trooper with the Connecticut State Police serving 22 years. Dave was a loyal and dedicated member of the Manchester Lodge # 73 A.F. & A.M., he served as Worshipful Master in 1987. He served as High Priest of the Pythagoras Chapter # 17 Royal Arch Masons in East Hartford and was also affiliated with the Delta Chapter # 51 Royal Arch Masons in Manchester. He had a great love and respect for the principles and visions the Masonic Brotherhood represent. David leaves many great and wonderful friends. He always created an atmosphere of humor sharing his many stories of his passion and love for building, piloting and adventures of flying his own Sea Bee plane. He loved the great outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Andover Sportsman Club. In addition to his wife he is survived by his brother Paul M. Toomey and his wife Shirley, his sister Edith T. Clark and her husband James all of Bolton, his niece Lauren Hoffman, nephews, Steven Toomey, James Clark Jr, Brian Clark and their families. Dave was predeceased by his sister Laura Toomey and two brothers Michael Toomey & Charles Toomey. Calling hours will be held Tuesday April 5, 2016 from 4-7 PM with a Masonic Service at 7 PM at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center St., Manchester. Burial will be private in the Connecticut State Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown.
