David Allen Livermore, 76, of Manchester, loving husband of 53 years of Carolyn (Bradway) Livermore passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on Sunday, January 21, 2018. David was born on October 23, 1941 in New London, CT son of the late Ellwood and Jane Livermore. He was raised in Groton, attended local schools and was a graduate of Fitch High School, Class of 1959. He earned his bachelor's degree from Central CT State University. David was stationed in Turkey for a year as a proud US. Air Force veteran serving his country during the Vietnam War from 1962-1968. He was employed for over 17 years with Cumberland Farms as a store Manager at several locations in Manchester as well as being a mail handler for the U.S.P.S. for over 25 years until retiring in 2009. David was an active member of Community Baptist Church in Manchester where he had led a Men's Bible study class. He loved to travel and spend time at his favorite place being the beaches of Cape Cod. He was an avid reader, loved Starbucks coffee and liked a good enjoyable game of Scrabble. In addition to his wife Carolyn he is survived by his son Allen D. Livermore of Pittsfield, MA and his two children; Katerina and Julian, his two daughters; Sharon Livermore of Manchester and Christine Pizarro and her husband Ito Pizarro of East Hartford and their son Cole. He also leaves his two sisters Barbara Jenssen of Groton and Kathleen Mitchell of New London as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main St. in Manchester on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 5-7 pm. Funeral services will be celebrated on Friday January 26, 2018 at 11 am at Community Baptist Church, 585 East Center St. in Manchester. Burial with military honors will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Community Baptist Church or to the American Cancer Society.
