David Michael Carpenter, 53, of Manchester died Monday November 21, 2016 after a valiant fight against cancer. He was born in Manchester, the son of Don and Maude Carpenter. David grew up in Bolton and attended Bolton Elementary, Center and High Schools. He lived in and around Manchester most of his life but also enjoyed living in Texas and in New Hampshire, working in the outdoors. An avid Blues music fan, David worked tirelessly promoting the Connecticut and New England Blues scene through his work with the Connecticut Blues Society and as Blues Music Director and on-air host at UConn's radio station WHUS. After a brief stint hosting "Blues Before Sunrise" he was a fixture on Saturday night for nearly a decade hosting "The Blues Bus". In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother Keith Carpenter of California; sister Sharon Fish of Manchester; sister Rosemary Johnson and her husband Rod, of Manchester; sister Carol Carpenter of Chester; sister Jean Carpenter of Ellington; brother Alan Carpenter and Lisa Touloumjian of Mansfield; nieces and nephews Kristin, Michael, Duwayne, Linnea, Brian, Kyle, Deonnedre and Danisa; and his longtime friend Linda Clark. Calling hours are Tuesday, November 29th from 4 - 7 p.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
