Courtland "Court" Porter Sears Jr. beloved husband of Mary Lou Willard passed away peacefully at his home in Manchester on the morning of September 14, 2015 after a short but brave battle with cancer. He was 79 years old. Court was born in Hartford on October 12, 1935 and was the son of Courtland P. Sears Sr. and Margaret Burgert Sears. Court grew up in Hartford along with his older sister Barbara. After school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served aboard the battleship USS New Jersey and at Quantico Marine Base, Virginia. Court became a dental technician following his service in the military, and in the 1970's, successfully ran his own dental laboratory until his retirement in 1997. Court married his first wife Mary Boxall in 1960 and had two sons. After the unexpected death of his first wife, Court remarried and spent 21 wonderful years with his loving wife Mary Lou. Throughout his life, he enjoyed skiing, sailing, and in his later life, gardening. Court was preceded in death by: his father, Courtland; his mother, Margaret; his sister, Barbara; his first wife of 30 years, Mary; and step-son Wally Moske. Court is survived by: his wife, Mary Lou; his two sons, Courtland P. Sears III of Boyd, Texas; Daren A. Sears of Chantilly, Virginia; a step-son, David G. Moske of Andover, Connecticut; a step-daughter, Samantha A. Moske of Ventura, California; a step-daughter in law Laura Moske of Bolton; their families and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the Hartford Hospital hospice team who helped care for and keep Court comfortable in his final days. A private service for immediate family will be held.
