Clyde E. Shackford, Jr., 90, of Vernon, CT passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Clyde was born in Lewiston, Maine and was the son of the late Clyde E. Shackford,Sr. and Frances (Merrill-Shackford) Caudle. In 1954 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. of which he was extremely proud. One of his proudest moments was to serve on the USS Midway in 1955. Dad had a lifetime of diversified jobs that led him to his most loved profession as owner of "Shackford Stone Masonry”, in Eastern CT. He personalized and created each wall that was built by hand. A profession he proudly passed on to his son Michael Shackford and brother John Shackford.
He was very active with MCC athletic department including managing the logistics of the MCC relays. Second to that, he was manager of the Columbia Women's Softball league, including maintaining the baseball field. He dedicated himself to making the field as pristine as possible, where many teams were proud to play! Dad's hobbies included summers camping at Ginny B's in RI, softball, football, swimming and a dedicated follower of the UCONN Men's and Women's basketball teams.
Besides his fiancée Shirley Antonelli of Vernon, he is survived by his "Yours, mine and ours" children: Michelle Soldat and husband Dale, Margaret Getz and husband Robert, Michael K. Shackford, James Monaghan and wife Debbie, Tom White and wife Cindy, Scott Shackford and wife Melissa, Ronald Shackford and wife Sherrie, Shawn Shackford, Geneva Armata and husband David, Diane Breault and husband Jeffrey. He is survived by his sisters: Susan Shackford, Linda Coffey, Janet Brown and brothers: James Shackford and wife Diane and John Shackford and wife Sylvia. Clyde had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Joanne L. (DeVaux) Shackford, His baby daughters Erin Shackford and Dannean Shackford and brother Peter Shackford.

Visitation with chapel service at 11:30 will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 10:00 to 12 at Holmes Watkins Funeral Home located at 400 Main St. Manchester, Connecticut. Burial will take place immediately after at the Elmwood Cemetery in Vernon, Connecticut.
