Clayton Harry Gould, 86, of Manchester Connecticut passed away on September 28, 2024. He was born on February 5, 1938 to the late George and Ruth Gould in Hartford, Connecticut and grew up in Windsor, Connecticut. After graduating from Windsor High School in 1957, he earned a bachelor of arts from the University of Connecticut in 1962. He met his future wife, Elaine, in 1963 and got married in 1965. Clayton served for 6 years in the Air National Guard and worked for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft for 35 years. After retiring from Pratt and Whitney in 1997, he worked at UConn as a consultant and for the State of Connecticut General Revenue Service until fully retiring in 2000 to spend time with his wife and family.
Clayton was hardworking and a great listener who was always there for his family. He loved watching sports and was a huge fan of UConn basketball teams for over 60 years. Additionally, he was an active member of the Pratt and Whitney golf league. Alongside his passion for sports, he loved spending time with his family. He always looked forward to family vacations in both Cape Cod and Maine. He attended classic car shows for many years with a 1934 Chevy Coupe that his son and him restored together, and spent a lot of time on his daughter's farm with the horses and chickens.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine, who shared a wonderful 59 years of marriage with him. He leaves his two children: Richard Gould and his wife Natalie Gould, Kimberly Foster and her husband Kevin Foster, as well as his two granddaughters, Isabelle Hudson and Jackie Gould, and his two cats, Pepper and Mooch. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Melanie Nivison and husband Bill. Clayton was preceded in death by his sisters and in-laws Beverly Plasse and husband Joe, Marian Brookman and husband Ed, and Elizabeth Mathews and husband Dick.
The family wishes to thank all of those who have helped at this time. We especially wish to thank his niece Patricia Stack and her husband John, Paul Volope, Barbara Rummel, Todd McKee, Dave Wheeler, and the Virnelli and Wilkinson families. Additionally, we wish to express our deep gratitude for his aide, Devlon Poteat, and the doctors, nurses, and staff at Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute.
