Claude J. "Jimmy" Cyr, 71, of Manchester, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Wanda (Torres) Cyr and the late Donna (Simmons) Cyr.
Born in Hartford, he was a son of the late Claude A. and Lillian (Sirois) Cyr. He was a graduate of East Hartford High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran who served in the Vietnam War and earned several decorations, including the Air Force Commendation Medal.
He was employed by Cheeseman Transport in East Windsor after a long career at E.J. Stephens Co. in East Hartford. He also worked at Sears in Manchester for more than 20 years.
He was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed woodworking, stained glass - which he taught for many years in continuing education programs in Manchester and West Hartford - and restoring cars, namely his 1966 Dodge Dart.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Timothy Cyr of Coventry; a daughter, Kristen Cyr and her husband, Bryan Lucier, of Providence, Rhode Island; two stepdaughters, Gloria Koenigshof and her husband, Jason, of Chicopee, Massachusetts, and Marizabel Lebron of Manchester; three grandchildren, Emma, Grant and Nora Koenigshof; and many dear friends.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester.
