Clara M. Mathiason

Clara M. (Fish) Mathiason, 93, of Manchester, beloved wife of the late Harry T. Mathiason, died peacefully, Thursday February 5, 2015 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Clara was born April 14, 1921 in Manchester, daughter of the late Edgar W. & Clara E. (Elliott) Fish, she attended local schools and was a 1938 Graduate of South Manchester High School and has been a lifelong resident. Clara was a member of South United Methodist Church in Manchester, an active member of the Doll Club of Wethersfield and the Manchester Historical Society. She was an avid gardener and loved to travel. She is survived by three children, twins, Lynn M. Godin of Manchester and Leonard Mathiason and his wife Rose Ann of Minnesota and Alan Mathiason and his wife Judy of Vernon. Four grandchildren, Christopher Godin Sr., Lisa Laveck and her husband Charles, David Mathiason, Jeffrey Mathiason and his wife Brigette and seven great grandchildren. Other survivors include her sister Laura Cassidento of Manchester, her brother Willard Fish and his wife Betty of West Hartford and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Richard Godin and two brothers, Elliott Fish and Alfred Fish. Funeral services will be private at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Burial will be in the East Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Thursday from 2 - 4 PM at Clara's sister's home at 39 Harvest La. in Manchester.
