Christopher J. McCarthy, 64, of Vernon, formerly of Manchester, beloved son of the late James A. and Mary M. (Karlsen) McCarthy passed away after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Vernon Manor. Christopher is survived by his loving family, brother, Michael D. McCarthy and his wife, Dawn McCarthy of Manchester, a nephew, Michael James McCarthy of Manchester, aunts, uncles, cousins, beloved former wife and best friend, LeeAnn Daigle. Chris was born in Manchester on January 16, 1952, graduated from Manchester High School, Class of 1971 and then served in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist Fourth Class, Medical Corpsman with the 1st Air Calvary after proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, Chris worked for several years, before his ill health in the family business, J.A. McCarthy Inc. Manchester. He resided in Manchester for most of his life before moving to Vernon in April 2011. The family would like to thank the staff at Vernon Manor for all the care and compassion given to Christopher. Memorial calling hours will be Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 4-7pm at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester. Private services and burial will be in the Veterans Section of East Cemetery Manchester.
