Christine Ann Rothe

Christine Ann "Chris" (Posey) Rothe, 70, of Ellington, beloved wife for 21 years of Jean W. Rothe, died peacefully, Saturday January 17, 2015 at her home with her family at her side. Chris was born March 5, 1944 in Toledo, OH, daughter of the late Perry S. & Martha (Kalweit) Posey and had been a resident of Ellington for 21 years. She retired as a Program Technician with the U.S.D.A in Windsor, Connecticut. Chris was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester and was active with the Biblical Story Tellers Group. She was a member of the Tolland Homestead Quilters and Past President of the Vernon Nutmeg Quilters. In addition to her husband she is survived by four children, Steven Ritchie and his wife Paula of Devine, TX, Cheryl Ritchie of Ellington, Gene Rothe also of Ellington, and Annette Gallagher of Florida, four grandchildren, Jessica Backiel and her husband John, Christopher Ritchie, Rebecca Gallagher and Michael Gallagher. Other survivors include four brothers-in-law, Edward Rothe and his wife Jane of Ellington, Henry Rothe of Vernon, Edward Rothe Jr. and Roy Rothe and his wife Shirley all of Ellington and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her grandson Daniel Ritchie. A memorial service will be celebrated Saturday January 24, 2015 at 2 pm at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 60 Church St., Manchester. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
