Cheryl J. 'Cheri' Clendaniel

July 10, 1953 — July 6, 2015

Cheryl (Cheri) Clendaniel, 61, beloved wife of Scott B. Clendaniel, passed away peacefully at Manchester Memorial Hospital on Monday, July 6th surrounded by friends and family. Cheri was born July 10th, 1953 in Hamilton, OH. She was the daughter of the late Herschel and Ruby (Huff) Cochran. She came to Manchester in 1973 and lived here since then.
Cheri had an extensive career in customer service. Over the years her employment included positions with RGIS, Transamerica, Provident Life, Cigna, The Hartford Courant, Connecticut Valley Orthodontics in Vernon and most recently Companions and Homemakers in Glastonbury. She had a true understanding of what it took to provide excellent service and always managed to improve the relationship between her employers and their customers.
Cheri had a rich and varied life outside work as well. She had a passion for antiques and other beautiful and interesting collectibles and never tired of displaying them around her home. She was the owner of a small antique business, Gingham Dog and Calico Cat, which gave her great pleasure through the years as she sought out treasures to buy and sell.
Cheri lived life to the fullest, travelling extensively through the world with her husband to places such as China, Scotland, Italy, Mexico and France, including numerous cruises to the Caribbean. A particular favorite destination was Disney World in Orlando, FL.
Cheri had an incredibly sweet, kind and gentle nature. She invariably put the cares and needs of others ahead of her own. She would gladly sacrifice her own comfort in order to make life easier for her family, friends and acquaintances. An example of her generous nature is that she had recently volunteered to make 365 knit hats for a group from The Church of the Living God in Manchester toward a total of 1000 they plan to distribute to the homeless in New York City. She spent hours every evening toward her goal.
The countless lives Cheri touched and improved are better for having known her and her loving spirit will live on in all who were privileged to know her. An angel lived among us and her loss is simply devastating; she will be missed more than mere words can say.
Cheri is survived by her loving family, husband Scott, three sons, Christopher Wrubel and his wife Kelly and son Hunter, all of Manchester, Devon Wrubel and his fiancee Ingrid Opito of Wethersfield, Corey Wrubel and his wife Monika and their daughters Nikki and Sophie of Andover; a brother, Russell Cochran and his wife Vendi of Phoenix, AZ numerous nieces and nephews and her long time close friend Mary Beth Jones of Boone, NC.
Family and friends are invited to attend memorial calling hours Friday, July 10th from 4 to 7 P.M. at Watkins Funeral home 142 East center Street, Manchester. Services and burial will be private. In keeping with Cheri's selfless nature, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in her name to a charity of the donor's choice.
