Charles A. "Charlie" Zanlungo, 69, of Manchester, beloved husband of 46 years of Gail (Willis) Zanlungo, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2017, after a long battle with a rare Neuro disease known as Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). He was born June 13, 1947 in Manchester, son of the late Cletto and Angeline (Cherubini) Zanlungo. Charlie grew up in Manchester, attended local schools and was a graduate of MHS, Class of 1965. After high school he served in the US Army and upon discharge worked as Chef of West Point Military Academy. Charlie was employed by the Town of Manchester in the Highway Dept for over 32 years. He was Secretary for the Manchester Bass Masters for many years. Charlie was an award winning fisherman, avid hunter, and he took great pride in the fishing tackle company he founded, Recap Bass Baits. Charlie was most happy when on the water fishing with friends and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Jennifer DeSimone and her husband John and their daughter Olivia of Tolland, and Jill Zanlungo and her children Kevin and Hannah of Columbia, his brother Paul Zanlungo and his wife Lynn of Ashford and his sister Ann Stevenson and her husband Mike of Manchester. He also leaves his brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Jack and Carol Willis and Diane Willis all of Manchester, several nieces, nephews and their families and many wonderful and dear friends. In addition to his parents Charlie was predeceased by his brother and sister in-law Robert and Katheryne Zanlungo and his brother-in-law Robert Willis. Calling hours will be at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester on Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 2-5 pm. Funeral services will be on Monday, Feb. 20th at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Due to the cemetery being closed, burial with military honors in Neipsic Cemetery Glastonbury will be held in the spring.
