Cecile J. Perleone

February 2, 1931 — December 31, 2022

Cecile Jeannette (Gaboury) Perleone, of Manchester, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 31, New Years Eve, at home with her family by her side. She was born on Market Street, Hartford, on Groundhog Day, February 2, 1931, the daughter of the late Henry Sr. and Mabel (Tardiff) Gaboury. She met her future husband Andy when she accompanied her Mom and Dad to the Maple Grill in East Hartford to listen to the band in which Andy was the accordionist. At intermission, Andy and Henry struck up a conversation and Henry suggested to Andy that he should make a date with his daughter. Cecile and Andy were married on August 7, 1948, honeymooning on Lake Winnipesaukee in the White Mountains, New Hampshire. After, they settled in East Hartford before moving to Manchester in 1963. Cecile and Andy continued to vacation in the White Mountains and Cape Cod the rest of their lives. Cecile was employed by the YWCA and American Standard Company in Hartford. After moving to Manchester, she worked at Iona Manufacturing and E.A. Patten, from which she retired. In addition to her love of gardening, Cecile will be remembered for her skills as a cook. Every evening, starting at Thanksgiving, she made tables of Christmas cookies, including crusteles and pizzelles. Baked stuffed shrimp and Italian passatelli soup were also on the menu. Every morning, there would be another decoration for her daughters to discover. Cecile was also the family caretaker and nursed everyone in the family. Besides her parents and her husband, Andrew Francis, Cecile was predeceased by her brother, Henry Gaboury Jr., and his wife Mildred (Bernard), her brother-in-law Frank Rechtorik and his wife Mary (Perleone) Rechtorik. Cecile is survived, and will be dearly missed, by her two daughters; Donna Marie Perleone of Manchester, with whom she lived; and her daughter Diane (Perleone) Roy and her husband Ronald Roy. Her grandchildren, Jordan Andrew Roy, who could always bring a smile to Memes face, of Belchertown, Massachusetts, and Stephanie Roy Shen and her husband Austin Shen of Ayer, Massachusetts, and great grandchildren Owen Shen and Jocelyn Shen, both of whom brightened her life immensely. She also leaves a nephew, Keith Gaboury of Enfield and a niece, Karen (Gaboury) McLenithen of East Windsor. Funeral services will begin at 9:00 AM, Friday, January 6, at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Saint Bridget Church, 80 Main Street, Manchester. Interment will be private. Family and friends are invited to calling hours at the funeral home Thursday, January 5, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Ceciles family would like to thank Margaret Koomson and especially Mavis Twenboah for their very capable and compassionate care this past year.
