Catherine L Lindsay

July 26, 1949 — December 10, 2014

Catherine LaPalme Lindsay, 65, of Manchester and formerly of Tolland, CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family December 10, 2014.Cathy was the daughter of Dr. Leo and Ann (D'Angelo) LaPalme, of Putnam, CT, born on July 26, 1949. She attended St. Mary's parochial school in Putnam, CT, and graduated from Stoneleigh Burnham School in Greenfield, MA in 1967. She attended Oklahoma University before transferring back to Connecticut to earn her bachelor's degree in education and her master's degree in marriage and family therapy from Central CT State University. Professionally, she was an advocate for people with disabilities, in private practice as a therapist, and an educator. Above all, she was most passionate about her years as a kindergarten teacher at St. James School in Manchester, CT. Cathy was predeceased by her parents, Leo and Ann, her older brother Gerald LaPalme and sister-in-law Theresa Mayotte, and younger brother Robert LaPalme. Cathy is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Jennifer and Timothy Parzych of Coventry, CT, Shannon and Eric Milikowski of Glastonbury, CT, and Heidi and Anthony Loiacono of Levittown, NY. Affectionately known as "Grammie," she is also survived by her grandchildren, the loves of her life, Lindsay and Sarah Parzych, Brooke Milikowski, and Leo Loiacono. To Cathy, family was everything. In her words, "my greatest gift was being a mother." She was selfless and generous to a fault. Her capacity to care for others was limitless. Cathy was proud of her Italian heritage and shared a special closeness with her aunts, uncles, and cousins. She enjoyed visiting Boston, especially the Union Oyster House, whole belly clams, discovering the best ice cream stands, a healthy obsession with Josh Groban's music, knitting, sewing, and cooking for her family. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Davita Dialysis of Vernon, CT, the Hartford Hospital Transplant Center, and especially the Drs. Bacay, Chafouleas, and Milite. Their care for Cathy and support for her family was sincerely appreciated.
