Catharine A O'Brien

Catharine A. (Harmon) O'Brien, 70, of Bolton, formerly of Derry, NH, beloved wife of the late Mark A. O'Brien passed away at home on Monday, July 18, 2016 with her family at her side. Cathy was born on January 29, 1946 in Portland, ME daughter of the late Judson and Evelyn (Chandler) Harmon. A graduate of the New Hampshire Hospital School of Nursing, Cathy worked as an RN throughout New England and Texas, retiring after 38 years. Always a lifelong learner and forever busy Cathy had been working part time, volunteering and taking college classes until last fall. Cathy was also an avid crafter - quilting, sewing, knitting, and cross-stitch to name a few of her interests. She also loved to bake for friends and family. Each year she gave platters of Christmas cookies as well as bags of Monster Cookies to eager grandchildren! She is survived by her two daughters; Cynthia O'Brien and her husband James Berry of Bolton with whom she made her home and Susan Dumas and her partner Paul Dingee of East Hartford, four loving grandchildren; Mark Rooney, Katherine Dumas, Andrew Dumas, and Jensen Berry; her brother William Harmon and his wife Eileen of Kennebunk, ME, her nephew Daniel Harmon and his wife Melissa and her niece Deborah Edwards and her husband Amos and their families. In addition to her husband and parents Cathy was predeceased by her brother David Harmon. Calling hours will be at Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center St. Manchester, CT on Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 4-7 pm with a prayer service at 6:00 pm. Private burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Derry, NH. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
