Carol A. (Breen) Lowry, 76, of Manchester, beloved wife of 60 years of Milton W. "Bob" Lowry, peacefully passed away at home with her family at her side on Sunday, March 19, 2017.
Carol was born on July 9, 1940 in Boston, MA, daughter of the late John and Sarah Breen. She was raised in Dorchester, MA , attended local schools and had been a resident of Manchester since 1973. Carol was employed as a receptionist in the J.C. Penney Salon in Manchester prior to her retirement. As an Air Force family, the Lowry Tribe lived in many places across the U.S. making lifelong friends along the way. Carol enjoyed camping, family card games, trips to Foxwoods and bingo with her buddies at the Elks. She was well known for her wonderful baked goods that were always the first to sell out at bake sales. Carol's compassion and loving nature made her everyone's favorite. No matter how many showed up for dinner, Carol always made room for you and made you feel welcome. She truly had a heart of gold. In addition to her husband Bob, she is survived by her two daughters; Karen Lowry and Susan Lowry both of Bolton, her two sons; Michael Lowry and his wife Joanne of Vernon and Bryan Lowry of Manchester, daughter-in-law Rosalinda Lowry of St. Peters, MO, seven loving grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, her brother and sister-in-law James and Diane Breen of Pembroke, MA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Carol was predeceased by her son Daniel M. Lowry, her brother Robert Breen and her sister Joan Gentile. Thank you to Starling Physicians and the Hartford Healthcare at Home nurses and home health aides for the tremendously loving care they provided for Carol. Calling hours will be held at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 5-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bartholomew Church, 736 Middle Turnpike East, Manchester, on Friday, March 24th at 11:00 am. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
