Carlos Antunes Lopes, 45 of Manchester, CT, formerly of Massachusetts, loving husband
Of Biz Murray, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 while scuba diving in Bonaire.
Carlos was born in Holyoke, MA on February 12, 1971, son of Otilia Antunes Lopes and the late Jose P. Lopes. He was raised in Massachusetts and graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School in 1989. He then attended and graduated from the UMASS Amherst in 1994. Carlos had been a member of Carpenters Union Local 108 for the past fifteen years, and was employed at Adams & Ruxton for ten years.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by a brother, George Lopes and his wife Janine; three sisters, Maria Spear and her husband David, Dee Beattie and her husband Patrick, and Anna Thompson and her husband Tim; nieces Andrea and Melissa, and nephew s Keith, Sam, and Arden. He also had a large extended family and beloved friends throughout the world.
Carlos was known for his quick and wicked wit, intelligence and contagious smile. He was a perfectionist who never cut corners. He was proud of the homes he improved and delighted in sharing hospitality and his huge heart with family and friends
A visiting time for family and friends are Friday, January 20, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with Words of Remembrance at 1:00 PM, at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester. A Mass of Resurrection at St. Ann's Church, 20 College Street, Chicopee, MA will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 10:00 AM, with burial to follow in St. Jerome Cemetery in Holyoke, MA.
