Carl E. Hein Jr.

Carl E. Hein, Jr., 74, of Glastonbury, passed away on May 18th in Jacksonville, FL. He was the son of the late Norma (Welte) and Carl E. Hein Sr. Carl was born January 6, 1945, in Evansville, IN. Carl attended the University of Florida where he received his B.S. in Math. After graduation, he relocated to CT where he was employed by Pratt and Whitney for 47 years. He then went on to earn his M.S. in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. During this time, he met his wife, Judy, and they enjoyed almost 50 happy years of marriage. Together they raised two daughters and many dogs. Carl was active in Glastonbury politics. He served on the Republican Town Committee and as Vice President. He also served on the Zoning Board of Appeals and Town Planning and Zoning. In his spare time, Carl was a member of the Vintagers and enjoyed clay target shooting, boating, and spending time with his family, especially his four granddaughters. He is survived by his wife, Judith (Jarvis) and their two dogs, Dolly and Cody, all of Glastonbury; daughter Jennifer (Hein) Sommer and her husband Kai, of Midlothian, VA; daughter Bethany (Hein) Charles and her husband Ryan, of Midlothian, VA; four granddaughters, Abigail and Eden Sommer, and Annabelle and Georgiana Charles; and two sisters, Diane Hein and Mary Ann (Hein) Atwood, and a brother, Mark Hein, all of Florida; as well as several nephews and a niece. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 28th at 11:00 a.m. in Section M- Westminster, of East Cemetery, 220 East Center St., Manchester, CT 06040. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice. Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, Manchester has care of the arrangements.
