Beverley Lewis, 92, of Wethersfield, Conn. passed away at home surrounded by her loving family and faithful kitty Cheyenne, on Sept.18, 2015. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years Ferdinand Lewis. She leaves behind three children; Alison West of New Britain with son-in law William West, Laura Arcari of Wethersfield and Robert Lewis of Vernon, three grandchildren; Antonio Arcari of Newington and his wife Audrey, Meredith Luciano and her husband Ronnie of New Britain and Jennifer Steele and her husband Chris of Meriden. Mom also had two great-grandchildren, Antonia Arcari and Jackson Arcari. " A special thanks to Mom's neighbors Mr. and Mrs. Maulucci who were guardian angels for years". Mom was born in a home in Wethersfield but attended the Manchester school system of which she was a graduate of the class of 1941 (voted most beautiful!) and attended her 70th class reunion in 2011.She was the only child of Laura and Raymond Belknap. She lived in Rockville and Manchester but was a 58 year resident of Wethersfield. She was very proud of her heritage and was a member of the DAR. Mom worked for many years at Pratt and Whitney but was probably most proud of her 16 years as an assistant to the police chief and was know by the police as "Mom". A great sense of humor, strong, loving and talented in cooking (Lasagna, Stews, cakes ,cookies and much more),she was a homebody who also loved crossword puzzles, reading, her garden and nature and knitted hundreds of crosses in her spare time. Her children and grandchildren have been blessed to have had such a great Mother and Grandmother for so many years and have many great memories and anecdotes to remember her by. Pets were a large part of her life and included the dogs Muffin, Jay and Gypsy, Cats Misty, Bob and Cheyenne and numerous other pets including Sunshine the Canary. Mom was the definition of a good Mother; loving, selfless, strong and giving. Love you Mom. Funeral services were private and she is buried at East cemetery in Manchester. Holmes Funeral Home Manchester is in care of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Protectors of Animals 144 Main Street, Unit 0, East Hartford CT. 06118.
