Betty W. (Warner) Ambrose, 76, of Vernon, beloved wife of the late John D. Ambrose Jr. passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2014. She was born on October 12, 1938 in Hartford daughter of the late Clarence and Lillian Warner. Betty worked for the Manchester Herald Newspaper until it closed. She became a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Rockville until her retirement in 2001. More recently, Betty was a Hostess at Rein's Deli in Vernon. She enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with her children and grandchildren whom were very important to her. Betty leaves her four daughters; Julie Spulick and her husband John of Vernon, Barbara Ambrose of Farmington, Tina Hadden and her husband Robert of Vernon and Johnett Simonson and her husband Jeff of Ellington; six grandchildren: Jason Spulick and his wife Jen of Tolland, Joyce Timko and her husband Bryan of Port Jervis, New York, Nicholas and Rachel Hadden of Vernon, and Phillip and Lillian Simonson of Ellington; and two great-grandchildren: Andrew and Hannah Spulick of Tolland. She also leaves her brother, William "Butchie" Warner and his wife, Mary of Ormond Beach, FL and step-sister, Carol Flynn and her husband John of Manchester; special niece: Michelle Warner of Port Orange, FL; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends at the Sun Valley Co-op in Stafford. Memorial calling hours will be on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 4-7 pm at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester. Burial will be private in East Cemetery, Manchester.
