Bernice S Colbath

Bernice S. (Bouchard) Colbath, 79, of Vernon, formerly of Manchester, beloved wife of the late William O'Neal Colbath passed away surrounded by her family Wednesday, January 27, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 3, 1936 in Van Buren, ME daughter of the late Ernest J. Bouchard and Josephine Paradis. Bernice was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Prior to her retirement she was employed by Sears & Roebuck at the Manchester Parkade and Buckland Hills Mall. Bernice was a recent Communicant of St. Bartholomew Church in Manchester. She was an avid gardener and a member of the local Garden Club at every town she resided in. Bernice was a gifted artist. She enjoyed painting, macram and crafting. She was a former member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Florida. Bernice is survived by her four sons and daughters-in-law; Michael W. and Deborah Colbath of Manchester, Steven R. and Mairead Colbath of Alberta, Canada, Brian D. and Glenda Colbath of West Hartford and Mark V. and Denise Colbath of Wethersfield, her five loving grandchildren; Trevor, Gillian, Isabella, Jacob and Danielle Colbath, as well as her step grandchildren Sara, Robert, Sarah and Caitlin. She also leaves her three sisters; Doris Parent of Vernon, Alice Newbery of Simsbury and Fern Chmielecki of Coventry, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents Bernice was predeceased by nine siblings. Calling hours will be held this Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center St., Manchester from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Bartholomew Church, 45 Ludlow Road, Manchester. (Please go directly to the church.) Burial will be private at Calvary Cemetery, Portland, Maine. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital.
