Bernard Anthony Redekas

Bernard A. Redekas, 94, husband of the late Bernice (Biveinis) Redekas and father of the late Kevin Redekas, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Riverside Health Care to begin his new life in heaven. Bernard was born in Hartford, March 23, 1923, son of the late Jozef and Agnieszka (Siemiojty) Redekas. He was raised in East Hartford, graduated from East Hartford High School and served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Radio Operator during WWII. He resided in Glastonbury for many years and was a self employed master carpenter working for more than 40 years before retiring in 1993. Bernard is survived by his loving family, a son Jerrid Redekas and his wife, Diane of Manchester, a grandson, Mark Redekas of Manchester, a brother, Anthony Redekas of Newington and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, wife and son he was predeceased by a sister, Jean Bartek. The family expresses special thanks to the kind staff at Riverside. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 10 am at St. Bridget Church 80 Main Street Manchester. Burial will follow with military honors in Neipsic Cemetery, Glastonbury. There are no calling hours.
