Benjamin H. Johnston Jr

Benjamin H. Johnston Jr., 91, of Manchester, beloved husband of the late Ruth (Kroemer) Johnston, died peacefully on Saturday, December 9th, 2017 with his family at his side at Bedford Falls Assisted Living in Bedford, NH. Benjamin was born on September 22nd, 1926 in Manchester, CT, son of the late Benjamin H. Johnston Sr. and Sophie (Radding) Johnston. He proudly served during World War II in the U.S. Navy having earned the rank of Shipfitter 3rd Class. He then attended and graduated from Bryant College where he met the love of his life Ruth. Benjamin was employed for over thirty years as a salesman for R.E. Jarvis Equipment Sales in Framingham, MA. He was a member of the Manchester Army & Navy Club and B.P.O.E. in Manchester. He is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Victor Berardi of Duxbury, MA, Lynn Baver Natale and Ralph Natale of Spencer, MA, and Terri and Mark Hamilton of Bedford, NH, as well as his ten loving grandchildren; Christian Berardi, Douglas Berardi and his wife Emma, Amy Baver, Scott Baver and his wife Amy, Ryan Baver, Zachary Natale, Elise Natale, Matthew Natale, Benjamin Hamilton and his wife Anne, and Timothy Hamilton and his wife Sarah, and his six special great-grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife Ruth and his parents, Benjamin was predeceased by a son-in-law Harvey Baver and a granddaughter Nanci Baver. Calling hours will be held Saturday, December 16th, 2017 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 40 Pitkin St., in Manchester, from 10:00am-11:00am with a service to begin at 11:00am at the church. Burial with military honors will follow in East Cemetery in Manchester.
