Barbara R. Thomas

Barbara R. (Smyth) Thomas, 97, of Sun City, AZ, formerly of Manchester, beloved wife of the late Carl R. Thomas, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Gardens of Sun City Assisted Living. She was born in Manchester, July 6, 1918 daughter of the late William Thomas Smyth and Sadie (Thornton) Smyth. Barbara lived most of her life in Manchester and before retiring worked as a nurse's aide for several convalescent homes in Manchester. She was a longtime member of the East Central Ponoma Grange, Manchester and a former member of the Manchester WATES. Barbara is survived by her loving family, two daughters, Dorothy Kuspert and her husband, Henry of Glendale, AZ with whom she lived when moving to AZ. in 2006, and Carol Goodrow of Peoria, AZ, a sister, Marjorie Donnelly of Coventry, four grandchildren, a great-grandson and several nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by twin sisters, Lois Smyth and Lucille Smyth, a brother, William Thomas Smyth II and son-in-law, John Goodrow. Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016 at 11 am at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester with burial to follow in East Cemetery, Manchester. A calling hour will be prior to the funeral service Saturday, from 10am to 11am at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Manchester Lion's Club P.O.
