Barbara A. (Yost) Sukosky, 87, of East Hartford, wife of the late William H. Sukosky, died peacefully Wednesday, October 21, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Hartford on December 1, 1927, the daughter of the late Merrick and Ruth (Goddard) Yost, Barbara was raised in the Hartford area, and had been a resident of East Hartford for most of her life. She was formerly employed by the State of CT and Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company before retiring.
Barbara was a life-time member of the Women's Auxiliary of Manchester Memorial Hospital where she was a faithful volunteer for many years. Also, Barbara and her husband were charter members of Faith Lutheran Church in East Hartford.
She is survived by her daughter and son, Donna Kirby and her husband Ronald of East Hartford with whom she made her home, and Robert Sukosky and his wife Patricia of Manchester; a granddaughter, Christina Cohen and her husband Alexander of East Hartford, and three great-grandchildren, Corbin, Aurora, and Keegan. Besides her husband she was predeceased by a son, William A. Sukosky.
She is also survived by the following brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Rosemarie and John Vollinger of Glastonbury, Ruth and Wilbur Hills of East Sandwich, MA, and Donald Sukosky of Glastonbury and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association CT, 200 Executive Blvd., Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
