Barbara (Grogan) Anderson, 98, Manchester resident since 1953 died peacefully on June 29, 2014 at Manchester Manor. Predeceased by Leonard, her husband of 60 years, she was born in Cranston, RI on May 16, 1916 to Joseph and Mary (Gorman) Grogan. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Karen Anderson, two brothers, William Grogan and Lloyd Grogan and her sister Beatrice Grogan Sams. She is survived her two daughters, Janet and her husband Daniel Platz, Linda Johnson, her son, David, and her daughter-in-law, Jan Anderson. Five grandchildren, Ethan Platz, Alaina Platz and her fianc Bonnie Kate Bicknell, David, Tyler and John Anderson, and Will Anderson and his wife Katherine Ann. Her niece, Nancy Kent and her husband Buehl, and her nephew Leonard Davis and his wife, Jen. A Bryant College graduate, she was an active member of St, Mary's Episcopal Church in Manchester and the association of Episcopal Churchwomen. She was involved in numerous community activities including the Manchester Historical Society and MACC. A working mother, she was the long time office manager for former Manchester Optometrist, Dr. Eugene M. Davis. Calling hours will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 41 Park Street, on Tuesday, July 8th from 5-7 PM. Funeral services will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 9th at St. Mary's Episcopal Church at 10:00 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Book of Remembrance. Holmes Funeral Home, Manchester, has care of the arrangements.
