Aurel A. Bumsch, 89, of Farmington, formerly of Manchester, beloved husband of the late Catherine Helen (Stefany) Bumsch, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Amberwoods of Farmington nursing home. He was surrounded by his family. Aurel was born April 22, 1925 in Zipser Bela, Czechoslovakia, son of the late Gustav and Anna (Lauf) Bombsch. He immigrated to the United States in 1951 and settled in Manchester where he lived with his wife for more than sixty years before moving to Village Gate in Farmington in 2006. Aurel was a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manchester. He enjoyed gardening, lively music and dancing at the Hartford Saengerbund, Newington, CT. He worked for over 30 years at Cheney Brothers, a textile manufacturing company and also worked at the Purdy Corporation for 5 years before retiring in 1986. Aurel is survived by his son, Walter Bumsch and his wife, Carleen of Farmington, two granddaughters, Kristin and Courtney, a sister-in-law, Anna Muschko and her husband, William "Bill", a nephew, Mark and a niece, Debbie Clarke and her family, all of New Jersey as well as a niece Erika Konopeus in Czechoslovakia. Besides his parents, Aurel was predeceased by his wife Catherine, his brothers Erwin Bombsch, Otto Bombsch and Arpad Bombsch. The Bumsch family would like to thank the physicians, nurses and entire staff of Amberwoods for their excellent care and attention. They especially appreciate Cornelia and Paula who personally cared for him during his 5 year stay at Amberwoods and made his final days more comfortable. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:00 am at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 112 Cooper Street, Manchester followed by a private family burial at East Cemetery, Manchester. At Aurel's request, there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
