Audrey Elaine (Waddell) Frey, 88 of Manchester, CT, loving wife for 67 years of Henry J. Frey of Tolland, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Hartford Hospital.
Audrey was born in Manchester on May 28, 1928, daughter of the late Maurice and Ruth (Mikoleit) Waddell. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1946 and began her career as secretary to the superintendent of the yarn division at Cheney Brother Mills of Manchester. She then transferred to Pioneer Parachute and retired as corporate secretary of Pioneer International Corporation in 1996.
Audrey was a member of the National Secretaries Association, serving on various committees including FSA, membership, and as historian and recording secretary. She was an officer of the Natura Women's Club of Deerfield Beach, FL, where she and Henry lived and enjoyed the sun for fourteen years before returning to Connecticut. She was an avid duckpin bowler in her younger days and more recently loved watching UCONN Women's basketball. Audrey was a longtime member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Manchester.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her loving family, her daughter Linda Sagan and her husband Dana of Tolland; two grandchildren, Jessica Sagan of West Hartford and Christopher Sagan of Newington; her sister, Maureen Tomkiel of Manchester, a brother-in-law, Sam Cipolla of East Hartford, a sister-in-law, Catherine Frey of Massachusetts, and many nieces and nephews. Her family also wishes to express a special thanks to her niece Stacey Tomkiel for her love and support.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 12 at 10:00 AM at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester. Burial will follow in the East Cemetery in Manchester. Visiting hours are Thursday, August 11, from 4 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home.
