Arthur L. Risley, 94, of Manchester husband of Marion (Malon) Risley passed away, Thursday, (February 25, 2016) peacefully at his home. Arthur was born September 25, 1921, in Versailles, CT, the son of the late Lyman F. and Evelyn (Cooley) Risley. Following his mother's death at infancy, Arthur was raised by his loving grandparents Charles and Mary Cooley. He had been a life-long resident of Manchester. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army. Upon discharge he went to work at Cheney Mill and Pioneer Parachute. Over the years he also worked for Manchester Sand & Gravel, Iona Manufacturing and Pratt & Whitney. Arthur was a member of the Manchester Church of Christ. Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Nancy and her husband Warren Madrak of Broad Brook, and Leslie Risley of North Carolina; ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a cousin Shirley McCabe, and his church family. He was predeceased by a son Bruce A. Risley and a daughter Ruth L. Davila. The family would like to sincerely thank all of his caregivers who have provided exceptional comfort and care, to the members of the Church of Christ for all the services that have been provided, and to the family next door, who have exhibited what true neighbors are. Funeral services will be Monday, February 29, 2016 at 10 am at the Church of Christ, 595 Tolland Turnpike, Manchester. Burial will follow with military honors in East Cemetery, Manchester.
