Arthur L. Highter, 89, of Bolton, formerly of Manchester, beloved husband of the late Marjorie (McFarland) Highter passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at a local convalescent home. He was born on January 7, 1928 in Manchester son of the late Lewis and Camilla Highter. Art was raised in Manchester, attended local schools and was a graduate of Manchester High School, Class of 1946. He was a proud veteran of the US Army serving his country during WW II. Art was employed as a machinist with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for over 35 years until retiring in 1993. He then spent several enjoyable years working as a school crossing guard for the Manchester Police Dept. He was a member of the Manchester Army & Navy Club and a longtime member of the Coventry Grange. Art enjoyed frequent trips to Vermont to visit relatives, playing cards at the Bolton Senior Center and rooting for the UConn Women's & Men's Basketball teams. Art is survived by his son Robert Highter and his girlfriend Kimberly Columbia of Vernon and his son Richard Highter and daughter-in-law Diana Heighter of Cornelius, NC, his grandsons; Shane Highter of Killingworth, CT and Jake Highter of Cornelius, NC., and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are welcome to attend a time of visitation at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main St. in Manchester on Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 3-5 pm. Burial with military honors will be held on Monday, November 27th at 1:00 pm. in East Cemetery, Manchester.
